Why you should delegate on a recruitment agency

Recruiting is a time demanding task where a trained eye will be of much help

Hiring a domestic worker can be complicated nowadays, especially after the limitations of movement derived from Brexit and considering that many of these jobs were occupied by immigrants.

Around 1.3 million foreigners have left the country between the third quarter of 2019 and the same period in 2020, according to data from the Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence (ESCOE).

Adding to the decline in the labour force are the difficulties of recruitment, which require the scrutiny of a professional and expert eye if we are not to make mistakes in bringing a stranger into the home.

Nomenial's recruitment process includes personal interviewing by professionals with thousands of processes under their belts. Checking references and CVs and, it goes without saying, a thorough background screening.

Legal aspects

What is implied on becoming a employer?

Being an employer comes with some responsibilities. There's nothing to worry as far as you follow the following steps:

  1. Decide how much to pay someone - you must pay at least the National Minimum Wage to your employee.
  2. Check to see if someone is legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom. It's possible that you'll need to do additional background checks.
  3. If the position is in contact with vulnerable people, you will probably prefer to have a DBS check (previously known as a CRB check) od the employee.
  4. Employers' liability insurance is required as soon as you start working as an employer.
  5. Send written job details (including terms and conditions) to your employee. If you're hiring someone for more than a month, you must provide them a formal statement of employment.
  6. HMRC (HM Revenue and Customs) should be notified so you can register as an employer up to 4 weeks before you start paying your new staff.
  7. Check to see if you need to enroll your employees in a workplace pension plan.

Emily Warren 46, London

I work in the City of London and have both a nanny and a housekeeper from Nomenial. I was looking, from the very beginning, for an agency without the picture of a castle in the background: the staff and service of Nomenial are down to earth and friendly - we speak the same language

Michael Brown 51, Manchester

Would highly recommend. I searched around for different options for hiring a live in nanny and then stumbled across Nomenial. Excellent service - cheaper than all the other options.

Cindy Thomas 48, Leeds

It took them several weeks to eventually find me a housekeeper - but i don't mind too much because in the end it was worth the wait. I live in a remote village so I was worried about being able to find someone.

Martha Reynolds 56, London

Very attentive staff. Would recommend and use their services again if needed.

Oliver McKee 49, Edimburgh

To be honest it was a little bit more expensive than I was initially hoping to pay for a nanny, but in fairness the service was excellent and they did make my life easier.

Johnathan Folks 52, London

I'm very satisfied with the service that our family have received from nomenial. It would've been so much more difficult without them to find a housekeeper as flexible.
